We encourage healthy eating in the setting by ‘growing our own’ in our outdoor area.
We plant vegetables and flowers; we harvest them for snack time when they are ready. Throughout the years we have planted potatoes, carrots, podded peas and beans.
In the outdoor area we have a sensory area, which includes mint, lavender, rosemary and sage.
Having a hands-on experience helps children to thrive.
Our “Healthy Eating’ policy promotes a balanced diet and everyday we offer fresh fruit, vegetables, juice and water.
We celebrate cultural festivals throughout the year, offering varieties of different foods for snack time – including Chinese New Year, Christmas, Harvest, Divali and Easter.
In nursery the children are encouraged to take an active role in baking bread, making sandwiches and cooking porridge.
